  • Job Requirements:

    Education Preferred:

    Grade 12 diploma and work experience in a manufacturing environment. Additional business courses are an asset as well as team activities they have lead.

    Experience Preferred:

    Two years manufacturing experience. Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

    Job Description:

    General:

    Assure that the assigned production department is operated on the most profitable and efficient basis through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment, and space. To coordinate all activities within their scope of control and set priorities necessary to accomplish all of the above.

    The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that safe work practices are carried out by ensuring that their employees follow safe work procedures to do their assigned duties. The Supervisor works with all departments to maintain a safe and healthy workplace by identifying and removing potential workplace hazards, prevention of workplace accidents and injuries, and enhancing the quality of work life at Adient Seating Canada LP.

    Specific Duties:

    • Supervise hourly employees performing production operations. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable regarding the employee's contract, all rules, programs, and procedures that pertain to hourly employees.
    • Responsible for orientation and on the job training of employees in the safe and efficient operation of equipment. Instills good housekeeping of their immediate work area in all employees so that visitors may be received in the plant at any time.
    • Evaluates probationary employees based on attendance, performance, attitude, potential, etc. Recommends candidates for hire, promotion, demotion, transfer or termination.
    • Responsible for maintaining manpower within the assigned department at authorized levels. Re-assigns employees on "down equipment" to eliminate unfavorable labour variances
    • Observes production operation within their area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards, and efficient operation of equipment. Takes corrective actions to eliminate any deviation thereto.
    • Continuously analyzes the assigned area of responsibility for improved methods of production, tool design, communication and reporting, cost controls, and makes recommendations to shift superintendent for disposition.
    • Consults with employees regarding on the job problems to include low production, poor quality and/or poor attitude. Should recommends discipline if the problem continue, after instruction and sufficient time for improvement.
    • Must be familiar with and capable of directing the plant emergency evacuation procedures.
    • Must keep Manager informed of shift activities. Where Shift Superintendent is not available.
    • The Supervisor will assure that all Production Reports, Corrective Action Reports, and Accident Investigation Reports are completed with accuracy and any discrepancies are resolved.
    • The Supervisor will ensure that the necessary requirements for WHMIS are being followed by his/her assigned departments at all times.
    • The Supervisor will observe the production operation on their shift to ascertain compliance with quality standards, and efficient operation of equipment. Corrective action will be taken to eliminate any inefficiency of the above.
    • The Supervisor will provide direction for their production team members in terms of their job performance and the daily execution of their job. They will work on Ongoing Training Programs for their shift - focus on team empowerment, Employee Involvement, E.I. Teams and Projects, One on One Interviewing.
    • Promote, implement and understand customer specific requirements and standards.
