Division Description

Located in Milton, Ontario, Modatek Systems is a divsion of Magna International. At Modatek, our dedicated team produce chassis systems utilizing innovative hydroforming, automated welding, and electrostatic coating processes within a large, safety-focused facility.

Role Summary

Quality Engineering is required to work with all departments on the development of new products in order to meet customer and IATF 16949/ TS 16949 requirements.  This includes all quality related aspects of PPAP, prototype and ongoing product development. Maintains a high level of confidentiality while managing customer sensitive documents and data that drives process and product changes.  Assist in IATF/TS16949/BIQS implementation and compliance.

Job Description

Advance Quality Engineering Responsibilities and Duties

•    Co-ordinate and complete all Product PPAP's and APQP activities including development of Control Plans
•    Co-ordinate and complete all Product Engineering Change Notice(ECN)
•    Follow up on internal/external communications to ensure timelines are met.
•    Initiate the Corrective Action Reports (CAR) for official, unofficial and internal investigations. 
•    Develop Quality Communications to promote Quality Mindset (Voice of Quality).
•    Prepare Purchase Requisitions and reconcile invoices for payment on all customer sort activities.
•    Issue a Return Material Authorization (RMA) number for all customer returns and update Sales Order (SO) in internal database once return parts are received.
•    Co-ordinate customer events at Modatek and ensure professional long term relationships are met and maintained.
•    Provide back up and support for Quality Engineering Team (vacations and absents).


Operations Quality Engineering Responsibilities and Duties

•    Co-ordinate root cause analysis on all customer non-conformances and respond to customer within specified time (NCT, PRR, SCAR, etc…).
•    Attend T2 meetings and lead/promote PFMEA/CP blitz.
•    Assist in IATF/TS16949/BIQS implementation and compliance.
•    Perform Control Plan Audits as per schedule.
•    Compile and submit all data for both internal and external requests including Statistical studies (SPC).  Obtain support from Advance QE if required.
•    Implement containment activities and update documentation as required.  Drive the removal of containment activities through Corrective Actions.
•    Perform Layered Process Audits (LPA) as per audit schedule.
•    Communicate 'Voice of Quality' to promote 'Quality Mindset' to each department.
•    Support Product Engineering customer meetings and calls as requested.
•    Schedule and perform customer visits.
•    Maintain and update current Production Control Plans as required.
•    Provide back up and support for Quality Engineering Team (vacations and absents)
 

Key Qualifications/Requirements

•    Post-secondary graduate with a technical diploma or a certificate in Quality Engineering (CQE)
•    Three years of quality experience
•    Computer proficiency in Microsoft products 
•    Prior experience with IATF/TS 16949 processes
•    Knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Production Part Approval Process submissions, Geometric Dimensions & Tolerancing, Flow Diagrams, FMEA's, Control Plans, Statistics, and fixture development based on part GD&T
•    Demonstrated ability to use basic measurement tools (height gauge, vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, indicator, etc) 
•    Demonstrated ability to conduct root cause analysis using various problem solving techniques including Drill Deep, 8D, 5 Phase.
•    Ability to communicate to all levels of plant personnel with ease
•    Good organizational, interpersonal and problem solving skills.  Must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a team.
•    Ability to coordinate and facilitate cross-functional team meetings
•    Ability to work overtime to meet customer needs
