Background & Purpose of the Job
We are looking for a General Labourer at our Ice Cream Manufacturing factory in Simcoe, Ontario. Our factory produces brand names such as Breyers, Ben & Jerry's, Magnum, Klondike, and Popsicle!!
The general objective of the General Labour position is to stage and supply packaging and dry good ingredients to the production floor to ensure that production requirements are met.
Who You Are & What You'll Do:
- Reports to their scheduled work centre at the scheduled shift start time.
- Ensures the safe working, good housekeeping and good manufacturing practices are observed, in meeting daily production and quality expectations.
- Ensures that the proper quantity of materials and/or ingredients are brought down from the supply hall to the production floor to meet daily production requirements.
- Reports safety hazards or environmental risks immediately to the supervisor.
- Performs the job duties in a manner that is safe for yourself and others around you, including compliance with safety and ergonomic practices.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
What You'll Need To Succeed:
- Must be flexible and able to work all shifts to accommodate factory schedules and training. Different shifts are as follows: 1) 8-hour rotational weekday shifts; 2) weekend shift comprising of Friday, Saturday and Sunday 12-hour shifts; 3) 12-hour Continental straight shifts (days or nights)
- Ability to learn all functions of assigned production lines in a quick fashion, as dictated by the production rate of the specific line.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Previous experience in a production environment and/or food production or handling is preferred.
- Education - High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
