Who we need
Our Mississauga plant is adding a Processing Operator to the night shift. You will be trained on our grinding and roasting processes and standards, and be responsible for operating processing machinery.
Shift Type: Full-time, 12-hour weekend shifts (7 pm - 7:30 am), Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays
Pay Rate: $31.29/hour + shift premium (nights - $1.00/hour)

What you will do:
- Learn. You will undertake two months of training per area, participate in oral reviews with the Lead, and complete a written assessment. You will gain insights into the emphasis on quality and how to prevent processing mistakes that have a high-cost impact. You will build out a good understanding of the coffee manufacturing process and roasted coffees and their varying characteristics. You will learn the operations and capabilities of all four roasters and eight grinders. You will grow your knowledge of the control room, organizing to meet demands and prioritizing the continuously changing environment.
- Operate high caliber, complex equipment as part of an automated food processing line. You will perform all aspects of the roasting, grinding, and control room relief functions as assigned. You will ensure the safe operation of roasting and grinding equipment and product testing instrumentation. You will adhere to our high standards, working alongside us to achieve world class safety results.
- Be responsive and meet demands. You will maintain an awareness of when and how the roasters or grinders need to be adjusted to correct for out-of-spec conditions. You will look, listen, attend to mechanical problems and respond urgently to emergencies such as thermal events. You will prioritize and plan the roasting order to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Ensure quality. You will be part of our lean manufacturing environment, with exposure to Six Sigma processes and approaches. You will develop an understanding of our Data Management System and ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of the supply chain from green receiving to roasting, grinding, and packaging. (Coffees are packed throughout the plant.)
What you bring to the role:
- The certification and knowledge. You have a minimum grade 12 or equivalent education and WSIB certification. You have a technical and a mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting, analytical, and mathematical skills.
- The experience and growth mindset. You have direct experience in food and beverage processing and packaging. You can translate your knowledge and excel in your training here to develop an in-depth understanding of the coffee manufacturing process.
- The accountability. You take ownership of your work and the quality of the products. You are detailed, accurate and capable of reading and understanding technical information. You work well under pressure, make quick decisions when needed, and handle multiple tasks at a physically and mentally demanding job.
- The interpersonal skills. You can take verbal and written directions and communicate effectively. You can work independently with minimal supervision and prioritize your work in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- The flexibility. You understand the demands of a night shift and can commit to working rotating shifts.
